A Parliamentarian and minister of national defence, Marshal of the Sejm (Lower House of Parliament) of the Republic of Poland, who won the presidential election of 4 July 2010. In terms of the party to which he belongs, he was at first a member of the Freedom Union (UW), in which he held the function of secretary-general. He then belonged to the Conservative People’s Party (SKL), in which he had, among other roles, that of vice-chairman. After 2001 he was a member of the Citizens’ Platform (PO), functioning as chairman of the Mazowsze Region. In June 2006 he became vice-chairman of the party. At present, he is not a member of any party. He came to the castle in 2013, and was also a guest at the Książ Hotel.
