1906 - Sophie Hohenzollern, Queen of Greece
Sophie was not only Queen of Greece, but also Princess of Prussia. “Sossy”, as she was known, was the daughter of the German Emperor Frederick III Hohenzollern, and the Empress Victoria, and later, when her brother ascended the throne, also known as the sister of the German Emperor Wilhelm II. On 27 October, 1889, she married Constantine I, who would later be crowned King of Greece. Described as a caring mother and scrupulous to a fault about her housekeeping, she was a guest at Książ in 1906, visiting with the Queen of Romania, Marie. One may read an account of this visit in the latter’s diary.
