This spiny, succulent spurge branches out like a candelabra. The tubular stem reaches a height of 3 metres. The leaves are small and occur periodically. The inflorescence is supported by yellowish bracts. The spurge contains a poisonous milky sap. In the past it was cultivated in Poland as a potted plant, but it is now less popular.
