The Donkey’s tail or burro’s tail is an evergreen succulent, usually not branched, with fleshy, drooping stems up to 90 cm. long. They are densely leafy; the leaves are blue-green in colour, opposite, very fleshy and tear-dropped shaped. The flowers are pink to red, and star shaped, 5 to 8 mm. in diameter; they appear in summer at the ends of the shoots. The fruit are follicles containing numerous seeds.
