This evergreen shrub grows up to 50 cm. tall. Its small, flattened stems resemble leaves, growing up to 8 cm. long and 4 cm. wide. The actual leaves are small, growing directly around the flowers, which are yellow and inconspicuous, growing on the upper side of the leaf-shaped stems (phylloclades). The fruit, which is rarely produced, is a red spherical berry, 06.- 1.2 cm, in diameter.
