Crassula Hottentot
English name: Hottentot Crassula
Latin name: Crassula ‘Hottentot’
Family: Orpine/stonecrop - Crassulaceae
Origin: Under cultivation at the Palm House
This crassula is a low, creeping succulent with fleshy, flat and round leaves “threaded” on a thin stalk. It flowers in early spring; the flowers, cream-coloured and unattractive, also give off an unpleasant odour. The Hottentot cultivar is grown as a potted plant and often planted in hanging containers, where the stems may freely fall below the level of the container.
