The variegated rubber tree can grow up to 30 metres tall. It has numerous aerial roots. The leaves are large, elliptical, leathery, dark green, and smooth-edged. The flowers are small and dioecious, located in a pear-shaped inflorescence, open at the top, which also contains the fruit.
The variegated cultivar is characterized by white- or yellow-coloured leaf margins.
