Echinocactus grusonii
English name: Golden barrel cactus
Latin name: Echinocactus grusonii
Family: Cactus - Cactaceae
Origin: Mexico
Popularly known as “mother-in-law’s cushion”, this spherical cactus can reach a height of one metre and a diameter of 40 to 80 centimetres. It is light green, with 20 to 35 ribs sharply by with small areoles with a felt-like cover, which in turn produce long, golden-yellow spines (3 to 5 cm.). During the day in summer, there are bright yellow flowers 4 to 6 cm. long. The plant blooms in old age.
