Didymochlaena truncatula
English name: Mahogany fern/Mahogany maidenhair
Latin name: Didymochlaena truncatula
Family: Hypodematiaceae/Hypodematiaceae
Origins: Tropical regions of Central and South America, Africa and Asia
This species, common in tropical regions, is found in valleys near mountain streams and damp forested slopes. The fern produces stiff, leathery leaves, at first of a reddish-brown colour, which become green with age. The didymochlena is very common in the areas where it grows naturally, and despite the intensive cutting of tropical forests, its existence is not threatened.
