Brachychiton populneus
English names: Kurrajong, Australian bottle tree
Latin name: Brachychiton populneus
Family: Mallows- Malvaceae
Origin: Australia
The Brachychiton populneus is a rather small tree which grows both in humid coastal areas, and in semi-arid regions much further inland. The trunk serves to store water, and permits the plant to survive in a hot and dry climate. The bell-shaped flowers have a pale pink colour, while the leaves appear in various shapes, either straight with sharp endings, or lobed.
