The entrance to the Black Courtyard is on the side adjacent to the Larch Hall and, like the hall, may be rented only as a further facility for those renting the Ballroom complex. This lovely interior terrace received its name from the shadows cast by the walls that enclose it on all sides. It also features a unique heraldic wall, made of red sandstone, created at the beginning of the twentieth century, presenting coats of arms of all the castle’s owners from the Piasts to the Hochbergs. Of particular interest is its well, with decorated edges that add to its romantic character. Guests will be particularly charmed by the flowering plants that surround them as they relax in the courtyard.
Of historical interest is the well, with its decorative edges, which may be admired today. It fulfilled a practical function: during sieges, it drew water drawn from special underground cisterns. Though flooded during the Second World War, it today remains one of the castle’s most charming features.
